Sanctuary is a restorative justice ecosystem that will reclaim a former golf course to transform it into an refuge for residents to grow, harvest, and teach indigenous plant medicine for residents to have access and agency over the their healing from structural violence and systemic racism that caused the Flint Water Crisis.

Sanctuary is collaborating with the Genesee Conservation District. The District is the project’s fiduciary, technical assistance provider, and serves on the implementation team with Duell and project adviser, Becky Pettengill, who leads volunteer recruitment for site preparation, planting, and maintenance.
